An enclosed carrier is just as the name suggests: completely enclosed. To protect vehicles from the natural elements, the trailer will have side and roof panels. Since an enclosed trailer only has the capacity to transport 2-3 vehicles at a time (less than half the capacity of an open carrier), enclosed transport is more expensive.

However, for those shipping vehicles of high value (such as luxury sports cars or antique automobiles), enclosed transport can be necessary. Enclosed carriers come with a $1 million dollar insurance policy PER vehicle, whereas an open carrier only provides up to $100,000 insurance policy per vehicle. For this reason, we recommend shipping in an enclosed trailer for all customers looking to transport vehicles valued at $100,000 or more.
